Helen appears in bail applications, sentence matters, defended hearings and other applications in the Local Court. In the District Court Helen appears in conviction and severity appeals as well as instructing highly regarded barristers in trial and sentence matters ranging from drug supply, Commonwealth fraud offences, sexual assault, robbery and kidnapping. Helen has also instructed Counsel in the Supreme Court in bail applications and complex murder trials.
Helen takes the time to ensure her clients understand the nature of their charges and what their journey through the criminal justice system will look like. She provides her clients with clear information to help them make informed choices about how to progress their matter. She is known for her succinct and effective advocacy, detailed approach to analysing evidence and her thorough working knowledge of the particulars of each case.
Helen has a specific interest in working with clients who require diversion from the criminal justice system to mental health treatment and working with clients who require residential rehabilitation. As well as her busy court practice, Helen has lectured at the Traffic Offender’s Program.
